Terms of Service

Last updated: June 16, 2026

These Terms govern your use of the DivorceEase service operated by Alikhan Law Office, LLC ("we," "us"). By using this service you agree to these Terms.

1. What DivorceEase Is, and Is Not

DivorceEase provides limited-scope legal services for eligible Nevada joint/uncontested divorces (Joint Petition for Summary Decree of Divorce under NRS 125.181). The scope is limited to preparing the documents described in your engagement materials and the attorney review stated there. It does not include litigation, contested matters, court appearances, tax/financial advice, or representation in disputes between spouses.

2. Eligibility

The service is available only where both spouses agree on all terms, a Nevada residency requirement is met, and the matter qualifies for a summary decree. We may determine at any time that a matter is not eligible and decline or discontinue service.

3. Attorney-Client Relationship; Representation of the Petitioner Only

No attorney-client relationship is formed by browsing this site. A limited-scope attorney-client relationship is formed only upon execution of the engagement agreement, receipt of payment, and the Firm's acceptance of the matter. The Firm represents only the Petitioner (the spouse who completes the engagement). The other spouse (the Co-Petitioner) is not represented by the Firm, proceeds in proper person (self-represented), and signs a separate Acknowledgment of Non-Representation. The Firm does not give the Co-Petitioner legal advice, and the Co-Petitioner is encouraged to consult independent counsel. If the parties stop agreeing, the matter is no longer uncontested and the Firm may withdraw.

4. Fees and Refunds

The flat attorney fee is stated at checkout for cases with no minor children (currently $995). For cases with minor children, the attorney fee is quoted individually by the Firm based on the additional custody and support work (starting at $1,695) and is sent to you for payment after the Firm reviews the matter. The Clark County court filing fee (approximately $350, set by the court) is collected together with the attorney fee at checkout, and the Firm pays it to the court on your behalf when your documents are filed. This filing fee is an advanced court cost, not part of the attorney fee; if the matter does not proceed and the fee has not yet been paid to the court, the unused filing fee is refunded to you. The flat attorney fee is earned upon receipt and deposited into the Firm's operating account. If the Firm declines the matter, or you cancel before the Firm has begun substantial work on your documents, you are entitled to a refund of any unearned portion of the fee. Once your documents have been prepared and delivered, the attorney fee is fully earned.

5. Your Responsibilities

You agree to provide accurate, complete information. Documents are prepared based on what you submit; errors or omissions in your information may affect your filing. You are responsible for reviewing all documents, signing them, obtaining notarization (the Firm does not provide notarization but can recommend online notarization services), and filing (or authorizing filing) as instructed. Online notarization fees are paid by you directly to the notary service and are typically about $25 to $40 per person (an estimate, set by the notary, not a charge by the Firm). The court filing fee is collected with your payment and remitted to the court on your behalf.

6. No Guarantee of Outcome

We do not guarantee any particular result or court approval timeline. Court processing times are set by the court.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law and the Nevada Rules of Professional Conduct, our liability arising from the limited-scope service is limited as described in your engagement agreement. Nothing here limits any liability that cannot lawfully be limited.

8. Privacy

Your information is handled per our Privacy Policy.

9. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Nevada.
